A new version of an old masterpiece.

The OG Midjourney accounts on Instagram have mingled together and become somewhat of a community of sorts. We support each other where we can, colab, share tips, etc. That's how I got the scoop on some very exciting AI news!

Julian_AI_Art has his art hanging in a museum. Let me say that again hanging......in.....a.....MUSEUM! Right in the spot where "The Girl With The Pearl Earring" usually hangs. A bastion of the old masters Mauritshuis Museum in the Hague seems to have taken a progressive view to AI art and welcomed it with open arms.

It all started months ago when Julian, a photographer and AI artist, was told about a competition to have your artwork be a placeholder for The Girl With The Pearl Earring while it went off to Amsterdam for a major Vermeer exhibition. Julian entered the competition titled "My Girl With A Pearl" with his version of the Vermeer along with 3500 other images. 170 images were chosen to be displayed in digital frames with only 5 being printed as fine art prints. One of those 5 belongs to Julian and his version of "The Girl" made with Midjourney and Photoshop.

This means so much to our community, honestly it's historical and feels like a breakthrough. Somewhat of a tip of the hat from the old to the new. I don't think anyone saw this coming especially not Julian who wrote in his Instagram post "this is f*ing crazy". .Julian has almost 25K followers that strongly disagree, unexpected yes, but it's not crazy that a talented Artist won a prestigious art competition, not crazy at all.

Julian makes one request " You can see the exhibition in person from February 5 - June 4 2023 and if you do PLEASE send me a photo. I have not yet seen the image in person myself"

What a strange world we live in......... strange and wonderful.
