Greetings, fellow Midjourney adventurers! It is I, Cy your MJ instructor. here to share some knowledge and debunk some myths. As a Midjourney Super User with over 52,000 generated images, I've seen my fair share of incorrect instructions floating around the interwebs. And let me tell you, it's driving me up the wall.

Let's start with my arch nemesis: the --q parameter. This pesky little parameter is useless if it's at the end of your prompt. Yes the prompt goes through but it does bupkiss. --q 2 and --q 5 are supposed to increase the quality of your images, but they are currently disabled in V4 and V5. So, if someone is trying to instruct you using these parameters, run in the opposite direction. Trust me, I attend office hours every week with David Holz himself, and he confirmed that Q2 is disabled. Stick with the default quality which is --q 1, or lower the quality to save on fast hours, but beware that it will also lower the quality of your image.

Now, let's move on to another myth that needs to be cleared up. There are claims that you can use the emoji buttons beneath an upscaled image to "train" Midjourney to create a consistent image. This is utterly false, and it maddens me that people are profiting off and spreading this hogwash. Those buttons only used to  send feedback to the developers, just like when we rate other people's images. The results are sometimes fed into Midjourney, but those buttons do not lead directly to Midjourney. To prove my point, those buttons no longer exist in V5 and have been replaced with a heart button. So, if you see someone telling you to use those emoji buttons, run in the opposite direction (again).

These are just a couple of my top bug bears for today, but rest assured, there are many more to come. So, if you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask. I'll be here, all I do really is eat, sleep, prompt. Happy generating!
