There are some new updates and features coming soon to the platform. The team is currently working on v5 updates, which include exciting optimizations. They are also considering adding a Q2 option. (Q2 does not currently work in V4 or V5) Moreover, they are currently training the v6 model, with promising visual results, and hoping for a release within the next month.
In addition to the platform updates, there are some challenges related to GPUs and compute resources due to increased usage and other AI projects. To ensure stability, the platform is using funds to reserve compute resources and working on sourcing different types of GPUs. However, there are still difficulties with the GPU shortage. The platform is also working on improving the search functionality for the website and better moderation for inappropriate content to reduce false positives while filtering image prompts and banned words.
Furthermore, there have been issues with the free trial system, where a large group of users from China have been abusing it. As a solution, the platform has temporarily disabled the free trials while addressing the issues and considering moving to a friend invite system for free trials. Moreover, bad behavior is more prevalent in free tiers and trials, and the platform is potentially adjusting different rules for free and paid tiers.
Midjourney strives to balance rules and restrictions based on actual user behavior and uses challenges as learning experiences for both the platform and the world.

V5b was released a few hours later and is indeed faster and said to be cheaper. You can still access the old V5 by adding --v 5a at the end of your prompt. Remember if you are using seeds to test that seeds can be unreliable in V5.
